1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of Dated, operated by Minotaur Mechanics LLC ("the App"), and of our website at datedapp.com (together with the App, "the Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Service Description
Dated is a personal dating journal that helps you reflect on the people you're dating, track patterns in your relationships, and receive AI-powered insights. You can record entries via text and voice — voice recordings are transcribed on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition — keep notes on the people you write about, and receive personalised feedback based on your history. You can start by downloading the App from the App Store, or by beginning a short onboarding questionnaire on our website and then continuing in the App.
3. Eligibility
You may use the Service only if you are legally allowed to use apps and make purchases in your country or region, and you must be an adult. You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID, device, email account, and account access secure.
4. Accounts and Web Login
You may use the App without an account. If you begin on our website, or choose to link a subscription you started on the web, you provide an email address and verify it with a one-time code (we do not use passwords). You are responsible for maintaining access to that email address and for activity that occurs through it. The App may also use iCloud, CloudKit, and local device storage to save entries, preferences, and settings; sync depends on your Apple account, device settings, network availability, and Apple services. You are responsible for reviewing synced data before deleting, restoring, or changing devices.
5. Subscription and Payment
Dated offers an optional paid subscription to unlock AI-powered insights and additional features, with monthly and annual plans; prices are shown before you purchase. If you subscribe through the App, payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you manage and cancel it in your App Store account settings, and entitlement status may be managed through RevenueCat. If you subscribe through our website, payment is processed by Stripe and your subscription is managed through our web billing provider; website subscriptions also renew automatically until cancelled, and you manage or cancel them through the account or billing portal we provide. A subscription purchased through one channel is governed by that channel's billing and cancellation terms.
6. AI Insights Are Not Therapy or Medical Advice
The App uses artificial intelligence to generate insights and reflections about your dating patterns and relationships. These insights are for personal reflection only and are not professional mental health advice, therapy, relationship counseling, or medical guidance, and should not be relied on as such. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services immediately. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of all journal entries, notes about people, and other content you create in the App. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide the insights and services described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for what you write, record, and submit; do not submit content that is illegal, abusive, infringes the rights of others, or contains private information about someone else without permission. AI-generated insights are produced from your entries and may be incomplete or inaccurate; they should not be treated as fact or advice.
8. Acceptable Use
Do not misuse the Service, interfere with its operation, attempt to gain unauthorized access, bypass purchase gates or security controls, reverse engineer the App except where law allows, scrape content, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including to harass, stalk, deceive, or harm another person.
9. Intellectual Property
Dated, including its design, text, artwork, icons, code, and other content, is owned by Minotaur Mechanics LLC or its licensors. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these terms and Apple's App Store rules. You retain all rights to your own journal content.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on Apple, RevenueCat, Stripe, analytics and crash reporting providers, our AI provider, our email provider, and — on the website — Meta. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party service outages, policy changes, or platform decisions.
11. Termination, Changes, and Availability
We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including features, pricing, or content, and we may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the channel where you purchased it. We may update these terms by posting the new terms in the App or on the website; continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties and are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost data, lost profits, or service interruptions arising from your use of the Service. AI-generated insights may not always be accurate or appropriate for your situation.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Minotaur Mechanics LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation; if unresolved within 30 days, either party may pursue binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Any arbitration or legal proceeding shall be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class action, and you waive your right to participate in any class action or class-wide arbitration against Minotaur Mechanics LLC.
15. Apple End User License Agreement
The App is licensed, not sold, to you. Your use of the App is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA"). In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA takes precedence with respect to your use of the App obtained through the Apple App Store. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the App.
